Training camp update: Rookies in Tulsa wash cars and the coaches trim the roster

Several Tulsa players tweeted photos of rookies including Marion Jones and Vivian Frieson washing the cars of the veteran players Wednesday afternoon.

Unfortunately for a few of the rookies, their chances at making the final roster ended today. The Shock cut Kim Sitzmann, Moniquee Alexander, Danielle Green and Brittany Gilliam from their training camp roster. Juanita Ward is now the only tryout player remaining with the team.

Five-year veteran Kara Braxton arrived in camp after missing the first three days for personal reasons. She averaged 9.6 points and 6.8 rebounds in 18 minutes of playing time off the bench in Detroit last year.

The Shock also signed another five-year veteran, Christi Thomas on Wednesday. Thomas, a 6-3 center on the Minnesota Lynx last year, only appeared in 11 games in 2009, averaging six minutes of playing time.

Chante Black and Amber Holt are expected to arrive in training camp this weekend. The Shock acquired Black and Holt in a draft day deal in which they sent their seventh pick in the 2010 Draft and second round pick in 2011 to the Connecticut Sun.
