Game 1
Cappie Pondexter set the franchise record for points in a single playoff game with 28, besting the previous record of 24 by Tari Phillips on August 24, 2000. She also set the franchise playoff record for field goal attempts with 23, previous high was 19 by Tari Phillips on August 26, 2000. Essence Carson hit a personal playoff record of 17 points, her previous high was 15 on September 22, 2008 vs. Connecticut.   With 15 second quarter points, Cappie Pondexter is now tied for second best playoff performance in a quarter in WNBA history with Tamika Whitmore. The high is 16 by Betty Lennox.

2010 Regular Season: New York 2, Indiana 2
The last time these two teams met in the playoffs was in 2005. Indiana won the series 2-0. New York posted a 9-1 record for the month of August. Tamika Catchings averaged 20 ppg and 7 rpg during the regular season. Cappie Pondexter scored a career-high 40 points against the Fever on July 18.

With the win the Mercury improves to 11-5 at home in its playoff history and 5-1 overall vs. San Antonio. Leading by seven points with 2:31 left in the third quarter, the Mercury used a 23-9 run spanning the next 5:41 of basketball to take a 21-point advantage, 90-69 with 6:50 remaining, its largest lead of the game. San Antonio did not get closer than 12 the rest of the night. Making her playoff debut, Candice Dupree scored 32 points, the most ever by a WNBA player making her first postseason appearance. Her 12 made field goals (12-of-17) tied the franchise postseason record. She also finished with eight rebounds. Diana Taurasi recorded her first career postseason double-double with 14 points and 10 assists, tying the franchise record for most assists in a postseason game

2010 Regular Season: Phoenix 2, San Antonio 2
Phoenix and San Antonio meet in the postseason for the third time in four seasons, with the Mercury having won the previous two encounters. They last met during the 2009 Western Conference Semifinals. Phoenix won that series 2-1. Diana Taurasi averaged 24.3 ppg in three starts against the Silver Stars. Becky Hammon registered two of her three double-doubles against the Mercury. Both teams have 1-1 home-court records.
