Big 12 coaches select Baylor as preseason favorite, Texas A&M second

Primary Big 12 with Banner - Full Color Baylor takes the top spot in preseason voting as the favorite to win the 2010-11 Big 12 women’s basketball regular season title. A vote of the league’s head coaches put the Lady Bears in first for the third time in conference history.

Baylor received all of the possible 11 first-place votes. Coaches cannot vote for their own team.  Texas A&M, winner of the 2010 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship, was picked second and garnered the other first-place vote. Oklahoma came in third followed by Texas, Iowa State in fifth and Kansas sixth. Nebraska, last year’s regular season champion, was selected seventh, followed by Oklahoma State in eighth, Kansas State listed ninth, Texas Tech in 10th, Missouri 11th and Colorado 12th.

Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium will serve as the site of the 2011 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship March 8-9 & 11-12.
