WNIT play kicks off out West

WNIT postseason play kicks off tonight with teams from California, Washington and Colorado.

Northern Colorado visits Colorado in Boulder while Cal Poly visits Washington in Seattle. Colorado is 18-13 overall and finished its first season in the Pac-12 Conference in 10th place at 6-12. Northern Colorado is 20-11 and an automatic qualifier to the field due to their second-place finish in the Big Sky Conference.

Washington finished 17-13 in the regular season, winning four of its last six games under first-year coach Kevin McGuff. Cal Poly is 17-14. This will be the first meeting between the teams.

"One of our goals was to be in postseason play," said McGuff about his team. "So I’m just really excited for our players that they will have that chance."
