2012 NJCAA Women’s Basketball All-America Teams

The NJCAA selected the women’s basketball All-America teams for the 2011-12 season in all three divisions of play at the organization’s annual meeting held March 28-31 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Sha’Kayla Caples of Trinity Valley Community College (Texas) and Uju Ugoka of Gulf Coast State College (Fla.) lead the Division I All-America list. The two become just the 17th and 18th players in NJCAA history to repeat as First-Team All-Americans in the DI ranks. According to the NJCAA, the last two players to accomplish the feat were Haley Homstead (Salt Lake CC, Utah – 2010, 2011) and Danielle Adams (Jefferson College, Mo. – 2008, 2009).

Caples led TVCC to an undefeated 36-0 season along with the program’s seventh national championship and averaged 19.4 points a game. Ugoka averaged 16.6 points and 8.7 rebounds a game to help lead the Gulf Coast to another Panhandle Conference title.
