March Madness déjà vu: No. 1 Seeds in the DI NCAA tournament the same as last year

A feeling of déjà vu permeated the announcement of the top seeds in the 64-team field for this year’s NCAA women’s tournament. Once again Baylor, Notre Dame, Connecticut and Stanford lead the regions. It is the first time in tournament history that the same four teams are top seeds in back-to-back seasons.

The top four seeds in each region include:

Oklahoma City: Baylor, Tennessee, UCLA, Purdue
Spokane: Stanford, California, Penn State, Georgia
Norfolk: Notre Dame, Duke, Texas A&M, South Carolina
Bridgeport: UConn, Kentucky, North Carolina, Maryland
