All-Star game viewership increases by double-digit percentage compared to 2014 broadcast on ESPN

The 2015 WNBA All-Star Game 2015 broadcast on ABC delivered double-digit viewership increases over last year’s telecast on ESPN. According to the network:

  • The 2015 All-Star Game delivered a 23 percent viewership increase over 2014 (when it aired on ESPN), with an average of 583,000 viewers and peaked from 5 – 5:30 p.m. with 671,000 viewers.
  • The top five markets for the 2015 All-Star Game were: Louisville, Hartford-New Haven, Kansas City, Richmond and Raleigh-Durham.

ESPN is majority owned by ABC’s corporate parent, the Walt Disney Company.

The West beat the East, 117-112 in Uncasville, Conn. Minnesota Lynx star Maya Moore earned MVP honors.

* No All-Star Game was held in 2004, 2008, and 2012 due to the Olympic Games in Athens, Beijing, and London, respectively.  Similarly, no All-Star Game was played in 2010 due to the FIBA World Championships in Czech Republic.  An exhibition game was conducted at Radio City Music Hall in the summer of 2004, and in 2010, an exhibition game was held at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., with a USA vs. WNBA format in the “WNBA vs. USA Basketball: The Stars at the Sun.”
