Quotes

Head coach Michael Cooper

On the incredible first half shooting performance by his team

“One of the things we have been working really hard on the past few days is our execution on offense and ball movement and when we do that we are one of the best teams in the league. It’s unfortunate that we have not done it all season long, but it’s nice to see when it happens out on the court, trusting one another and making the extra pass and that usually results in wins.”

On the importance of the win

“We are fighting and we are not going to stop fighting until the last game of the season and then we will determine where we are. It was definitely a good win on the road against a team that we have to get ahead of and there are a few teams that we have to get ahead of.”

On the 33-point performance by Angel McCoughtry
“Angel is a fantastic player and she becomes a better player when she plays with the team and that is one of the things that I have been stressing to her. We know she can get it done one-on-one, but she has the ability like some of the great NBA players like Steph Curry and Lebron James to make her teammates better because she attracts so much attention from the defense and I thought she did an excellent job with that tonight.”

Angel McCoughtry

On the incredible first half shooting performance by her team

“We did a better job of moving the ball today. We had a lot of assists and less turnovers so that helped us get the win tonight.”

On if she has ever seen a team shot 70 percent in a half before
“Nope, but that shows the potential we have as a team to get better.”

On the importance of this win tonight

“It was real important. We are just trying to inch our way up there. We have been last all year so we are just trying to rack up some wins.”

Shoni Schimmel

On the incredible first half shooting performance by the team

“We shot the ball very well tonight. We just came out with the confidence in order to take some shots, it’s a shooting gym, so for us to all do that, yeah we shot it pretty good.”

On if she ever saw a team shot 70 percent in a half before
“No not at all, but for us to do that, we were due for this game to shoot the ball like we did. We just put a game together and we played 40 minutes and got the win.”

On the importance of winning to remain in the race

“It was very important especially wins against the East. At the rate we are going we need to get the East wins because we are still trying to make the playoffs and for us to do that we need to get wins like this and we have to play them again on Tuesday and we will see how that goes.”
