Teams optimistic as official practices begin for 2015-16 season

This past weekend marked the official beginning of practices for NCAA Division I teams. Sunday, Oct. 4 was the earliest day that programs were allowed to begin preparing for the 2015-16 season with full practices. Some teams also held media days for local press including Florida and Nevada.

Over the summer teams were allowed to practice for two hours per week. Some programs would practice for an hour one day, take a few days off and practice again for another hour to complete the weekly quota.

The earliest date that NCAA DII and DIII teams can hold official practices is Oct. 15. The official opening day of regular season play is Friday, Nov. 13 for all three NCAA divisions.

As per usual, the onset of practices coincided with exuberant posts on social media from coaches and players filled with high hopes for the season. Some teams also posted practice reports and videos to chronicle the first full day in the gym.
