Minnesota Vikings to recognize Lynx

The Minnesota Lynx will be recognized prior to the Vikings vs. Chiefs football game on Sunday, October 18, 12 p.m. CDT at TCF Bank Stadium. The game will be televised on CBS. Maya Moore will also sound the Gjallarhorn prior to kickoff.

Centuries ago, a Gjallarhorn was a horn sounded by Viking gods to signal the beginning of a great battle. The original Minnesota Vikings mascot, Hub Meeds, would sound a horn on the sidelines when the team played at Metropolitan Stadium. The Vikings Gjallarhorn was re-created and has been sounded to start each game since. Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen sounded the horn following the team’s 2013 championship.
