WBCA High School Players of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 10

The WBCA announced the winners of its High School Players of the Week presented by MaxPreps for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 10.

In its inaugural year the WBCA High School Player of the Week is presented to a deserving student-athlete who demonstrated outstanding play throughout the week. Head coaches submit nominations each week and the WBCA selects the individual based on stats that were submitted.

The winners are:

Region 1
Jess Larsh, a 5-foot-7 senior from Bolton High School (Bolton, Connecticut) helped guide the Bulldogs to a 3-0 record on the week, while improving to 8-0 overall. Larsh averaged 21.3 points, 4.3 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.3 rebounds. She posted a season best 30 points and seven assists in the Bulldogs 65-35 win against Classical Magnet High School on Jan. 8.

Region 2
Sabrina Defreese, a senior from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, New Jersey recorded 29.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.3 steals and 2.0 assists for the Maroon Raiders. The 5-foot-8 guard has posted seven double-doubles in 10 games on the season.

Region 3
Lexi Mercer, a senior captain for Rosewood High School in Goldsboro, North Carolina led the Eagles to three wins on the week to improve to 10-3 on the season. In the three wins, Mercer notched 27.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, 5.7 steals and 3.7 assists. In the 73-61 win against Lakewood High School on Jan. 5, Mercer was a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arch and went 11-for-12 from the free throw line.

Region 4
Cameron Onken, a 5-foot-10 senior from Lafayette Central Catholic (Lafayette, Indiana) helped propel the Knights to their seventh straight victory to improve to 12-3 on the season. The captain tallied 26.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.0 steals, 4.0 assists and 1.7 blocks in the three games on the week. Onkon notched a season best 31 points and 15 rebounds against Rensselaer Central on Jan. 9, as the Knights went on to win 62-33.

Region 5
Jacy Bolton, a forward from Drexel High School (Drexel, Missouri), guided the Bobcats to a 3-0 record on the week, while improving to 10-2 overall. The senior captain ended the week averaging 30.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 8.3 steals, 5.3 assists and 1.3 blocks. Bolton captured her first triple-double of the season in a 72-34 win against Appleton City High School on Dec. 8, recording 33 points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals.

Region 6
Regan Britt, a junior from Walnut High School (Walnut, Mississippi), garnered 25.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 assists on the week. In the Wildcats 68-56 win against Blue Mountain High School on Jan. 7, Britt posted a season high 32 points.

Region 7
Mariah Leary, a 5-foot-7 senior from Phoenix Christian High School (Phoenix, Arizona), completed the week with 24.7 points, 14.3 rebounds, 8.0 steals and 2.0 assists, as the Cougars improved to 11-1 on the season following three victories on the week. In an 86-6 win against Joy Christian School on Jan. 5, Leary amassed 34 points, 15 steals and 12 rebounds for her first triple-double of the season.

Region 8
Lillian Olson, a 6-foot-2 forward from Sacramento Waldorf High School in Fair Oaks, California, registered 35.3 points, 19.7 rebounds, 5.3 blocks and 3.7 steals, as the Waves went 2-1 on the week, moving to 7-5 on the season. The senior has collected a double-double in all 12 games for Sacramento Waldorf.

Region 9
Jameica Cobb, a 5-foot-7 senior from Madison County High School (Madison, Florida), helped the Cowboys earn their sixth straight victory following four wins on the week, moving to 17-4 overall. The captain averaged 26.8 points, 5.5 steals, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in the four games. Cobb finished with a season best five assists in the Cowboys 76-18 win against Taylor County High School on Jan. 5.
