  • Hoopfeed’s ballot: Player of the Week: Jillian Alleyne (Oregon) || Freshman of the Week: Borislava Hristova (Washington State)
Cheryl Coward, founding editor of Hoopfeed, participates in the weekly Pac-12 voting.

For the week of Jan. 18-24 Oregon’s Jillian Alleyne was voted the Pac-12 Player of the Week, while Washington State’s Borislava Hristova is the conference’s Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time overall this season.

Senior forward Alleyne (Fontana, Calif.) helped Oregon to its first Pac-12 road weekend sweep since the 2008-09 season. The Pac-12’s all-time rebounding leader, she led the Ducks with both 14 points and 15 rebounds in a 59-46 win over Colorado and led Oregon once again with both 26 points and 12 rebounds at Utah, leading UO to a 77-65 win. She had 23 points in the first half alone, nearly matching the Utes’ 26 total points after two quarters. With two double-doubles this weekend, she is the nation’s leader in the category with 16 on the season. She also has 85 for her career, which ties an unofficial Pac-12 record held by Stanford’s Chiney Ogwumike. Alleyne also ranks third in the country in rebounds per game with 13.5 per contest. It is Alleyne’s fifth-career player of the week honor and the 43rd for Oregon all-time.

Freshman guard Hristova (Varna, Bulgaria) led Washington State with 13 points in a loss to Washington in the Cougs’ only game of the week. She also had three rebounds in the loss, all of them coming on the defensive end. Hristova is shooting .900 (36-of-40) from the free throw line this season after adding two against the Huskies. She is also shooting .463 (133-for-287) from the floor as a small forward on the season. Averaging 17.1 ppg, Hristova is the sixth-highest scoring freshman in the country and is on pace to break WSU’s freshman record in total points, points per game, free throw percentage, and field goals made. It is WSU’s sixth all-time freshman weekly accolade.

A player of the week has been selected every week since 1986-87, the first year the Conference sponsored women’s sports. A freshman of the week was first selected in 2012-13. The Pac-12 Player and Freshman of the Week are voted on by a panel of media that regularly cover Pac-12 women’s basketball.

Oregon will host the Pac-12’s only undefeated team in conference play in Arizona State this week, welcoming the Sun Devils on Friday, then taking on Arizona on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Cougs hit the road this week to take on California on Friday and then Stanford, who is also in the top 25, on Sunday. All four games will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
