Washington Mystics sign forward LaToya Sanders to a multi-year deal

From the team:

Washington Mystics head coach Mike Thibault announced today that the team has signed forward LaToya Sanders to a multi-year deal.  She joined the team last season and in 23 games averaged 5.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

“We are pleased to sign LaToya to a multi-year contract,” said Thibault. “She is an elite player whose defensive presence was a key addition to our team last year.”

An alum of the University of North Carolina, Sanders has spent the last four years as a key member of the Turkish National Team. She was selected in the first round (13th overall) by the Phoenix Mercury during the 2008 WNBA draft and finished that season ranked fifth in block shots (1.52) and first in blocks per 40 minutes (4.66). She has also been a member of the Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks.
