Chicago sky re-signs forward Jessica Breland

From the team:

Sky forward Jessica Breland has agreed to a multi-year contract to remain in Chicago. Per team policy, terms of the contract are not disclosed.

“I am pleased to announce the re-signing of Breland to a multi-year deal,” said Sky Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman. “Her ability to positively impact both ends of the floor is invaluable.”

Breland started in 30 games for the Sky during the 2015 season, averaging 6.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. The 6-3 forward posted three double-doubles including a 17-point, 11-rebound performance against Minnesota on July 17.

“I feel blessed to return to the Sky,” said Breland. “The coaching staff in Chicago has believed in me since I first arrived and that’s renewed a level of confidence in myself to compete at the highest level.”

The Sky acquired Breland prior to the start of the 2014 regular season. In two seasons with Chicago, she was instrumental in guiding the Sky to its first-ever WNBA Finals appearance in 2014 and was named an Eastern Conference All-Star. Breland owns career averages of 6.6 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game.

The Sky opens the 2016 regular season against the Connecticut Sun on Saturday, May 14 at Allstate Arena.
