Bobbie Kelsey hired as Los Angeles Sparks assistant coach

The Los Angeles Sparks hired former Wisconsin head coach, Bobbie Kelsey, as an assistant coach.

“We are excited to add Bobbie to our coaching staff. She is an excellent coach who is very passionate about the game,” said Sparks head coach Brian Agler. “She will be responsible for our preparation for competition and will be engaged in our practice setting. Bobbi will get up to speed quickly on the WNBA, how we play and practice and she will fit in perfectly to our culture.”

A graduate and former basketball player at Stanford, Kelsey spent three years as an assistant coach at Virginia Tech before returning to Stanford to fill the assistant coach position. In April of 2011, she was hired as the head coach at Wisconsin until her tenure ended in 2016. Most recently, Kelsey worked as the Vice President of Corporate and Wellness Program at the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County.

“It is with great excitement and honor that I join the Los Angeles Sparks organization,” said Bobbie Kelsey. “I would like to extend a sincere, heartfelt thank you to the Sparks ownership group, executive vice president and general manager Penny Toler and head coach Brian Agler for this chance of a lifetime to work with some of the best basketball players in the world. I look forward to contributing my coaching experiences of the past twenty years to bring another championship to the Sparks. I can hardly wait to get started.”
