Four Rutgers players to transfer

Announced today by Rutgers:

Four Rutgers players – junior guard Shrita Parker, junior forward Kandiss Barber, redshirt sophomore guard Ashli Jeune and sophomore Aliyah Jeune – have informed the coaching staff of their intents to transfer and have been granted releases.

“I have met with each player and they have informed me of their plans to transfer to other schools,” said head coach C. Vivian Stringer. “We wish Shrita, Kandiss, Ashli and Aliyah success in their futures and thank all of them for their time at Rutgers.”

Parker, a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, appeared in 29 contests with 28 starts as a junior. She averaged 12.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in 2016-17.

Barber, who joined the program this season from the College of Southern Idaho and originally hails from Chula Vista, California, played in 29 games with 19 starts. She averaged 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Ashli Jeune, from Southampton, New Jersey, sat out the 2016-17 campaign after suffering a torn ACL in the preseason. As a redshirt freshman last year, she made 21 appearances and averaged 0.4 points and 0.5 rebounds per game.

Aliyah Jeune, younger sister of Ashli, played in all 30 games with 22 starts as a sophomore this season. She averaged 8.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest.
