Danielle Adams joins Connecticut Sun, rookie Shayla Cooper waived

Veteran forward Danielle Adams joined the Connecticut Sun the team announced today. The franchise waived rookie Shayla Cooper (Ohio State) make room on the 15-player training camp roster.

Signed to a free agent contract on February 22nd, Adams arrives after helping Maccabi Ramat Gan reach the Israeli League championship series. She averaged 19.3 points and eight rebounds per game during the season. The 20th overall pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft, Adams played five seasons for the San Antonio Stars, averaging 11.4 points and 4.3 rebounds over 155 games.

The Sun selected Cooper as the first pick (13th overall) in the second round of the 2017 WNBA Draft. The 6-2 forward averaged 10.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for Ohio State during her senior season.
