Dallas Wings: Erin Phillips named director of player and franchise development

Nearly two weeks after waiving her before the regular season began, the Dallas Wings announced former player, Erin Phillips, is joining the franchise as the director of player and franchise development. She starts her new role this week. She announced that she was retiring from WNBA play on May 14.

“Erin has experienced success at every level of the game of basketball and has been a valuable member of our organization since joining the team,” Dallas Wings President & Chief Executive Officer Greg Bibb stated. “Erin and her partner Tracy, along with their children, make the Dallas-Fort Worth area home, and we are excited to have them remain with the Wings family moving forward. Having someone with her level of experience and past success involved with our team, both on and off the court, will help the Wings organization continue to grow and progress.”

Duties for the two-time WNBA champion and two-time Olympian from Australia will include on-court player development, game planning, scouting and draft preparation. She will also work on off-court development initiatives including assisting with corporate partnership engagement, ticket sales initiatives and community involvement.

“I am very excited to continue to be a part of the Dallas Wings family,” Phillips stated. “I am very grateful for the chance to get to work and learn from three great coaches in Fred Williams, Bridget Pettis and Taj McWilliams-Franklin. I would like to thank the Dallas Wings Organization for this amazing opportunity.”
