The Phoenix Mercury signed forward Angel Robinson. The Georgia graduate just completed playing commitments for Montenegro in the 2017 FIBA EuroBasket Championships. Robinson’s rights were originally acquired by the Mercury on June 25, 2016, in a trade with the Seattle Storm that sent Noelle Quinn to Seattle.

The Mercury also acquired veteran forward Monique Currie today in exchange for guard Shay Murphy and forward Sophie Brunner, as well as a third round pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft.

Robinson, 30, led Montenegro in both scoring (16.7 points) and rebounding (13.7 rebounds) in three games in EuroBasket. Her lone WNBA season came with the Seattle Storm during the summer of 2014 when she averaged 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds, while shooting 57.5 percent from the field. Robinson was selected in the second round (20th overall) of the 2010 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks.
