From the Fever:

Indiana Fever point guard Briann January will miss the final two weeks of the 2017 season due to torn meniscus in her right knee. She is the third Indiana guard, joining Shenise Johnson and Tiffany Mitchell, to have their season cut short due to injury.

January is in her ninth WNBA season, having led Indiana to WNBA Finals appearances in 2009 and 2015, and a WNBA championship in 2012. She is a five-time member of the WNBA All-Defense Team. Through 25 games this season, January has averaged 9.5 points and 3.9 assists per game.

To supplement the nine remaining players on the Indiana roster, the WNBA has granted Indiana an emergency hardship exception. The Fever have signed rookie Jennie Simms, a 6-foot guard out of Old Dominion who was a second-round draft pick (18th overall) of the Washington Mystics last April, and who played 10 games with the Mystics through July 16. The Conference USA Player of the Year and the nation’s second-leading scorer with 26.0 points per game last year as a senior, Simms will join the Fever prior to Wednesday’s game with the New York Liberty.
