Baylor stays unbeaten, Penn St. downs UNC, Georgia Tech breaks Nebraska’s streak

In Wednesday action, No. 1 Baylor routed Texas Southern in Waco 91-39. Brittney Griner led her team and earned her fifth double of the season with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Odyssey Sims had 19 points, nine assists and eight steals (career-high). Other Baylor players in double digits included Kimetria Hayden and Brooklyn Pope, both scored 13.

Big Ten/ACC Challenge Action

The Big Ten was 5-2 in the first day of Big Ten/ACC Challenge action across the country.

In the only game pitting two ranked teams against each other, No. 16 Penn State prevailed over No. 14 North Carolina 103-84. Zhaque Gray led PSU with 25 points as they broke a three-game losing streak in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

It took an overtime period for Ohio State to overcome Florida State. The Buckeyes beat the Seminoles 78-75. Tayler Hill earned a career-high 31 points with five of them in overtime.

Nebraska (6-1) had its six game win streak broken by Georgia Tech (5-2). Sophomore Tyaunna Marshall finished with career-highs of 28 points and 13 rebounds in the 73-57 victory of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Marshall’s first career double-double helped Tech improve to 5-0 in the series.

Wisconsin (3-5) finally overcome early season doldrums and beat Boston College (2-3) 58-50.

West Coast Swing

Out on the west coast, No. 5 Stanford beat UC Davis 93-44 led by the Ogwumike sisters, Nneka had 20 while Chiney added 18. Joslyn Tinkle had a career-high night for the Cardinal with 19 points.

In Los Angeles, UCLA came out victorious over San Diego State 78-71.
