Pat Summitt receives the SI award in New York

Legendary Coach Pat Summitt received the Sports Illustrated Sportswoman of the Year Award tonight in New York. She was introduced by former Vol Michelle Marciniak, whose remarks brought a standing ovation from the audience. Summitt’s son Tyler also spoke.

Summitt will have to write another speech, however, as the NCAA will honor her with the Gerald R. Ford Award. It recognizes those who “have provided significant leadership as advocates for intercollegiate athletics over the course of their careers.”
