Video: Brittney Griner dunks in NCAA tournament game vs. Florida

Brittney Griner became only the second woman to dunk in the NCAA tournament Tuesday night in a second round game against Florida. The Lady Bears won 76-57 to reach the Sweet 16 for the fourth year in a row and seventh time in program history.

Early in the second half, Griner slammed a right-hand dunk and received an ecstatic reaction from her teammates and fans. It was the sixth dunk of her career and only second behind Candace Parker’s career record of seven. Parker dunked during an NCAA game against Army in 2006.

“I think my team got fired up a little bit more than me,” said Griner. “I got a little bit more fired up on one of the blocks I had actually, but it definitely felt good throwing it down though.”

Griner finished with 25 points. Odyssey Sims contributed 14. For Florida (20-13), Azania Stewart led with 14.

Baylor is now 36-0, a school record for wins. They face Georgia Tech, who beat Georgetown Tuesday night, in the Sweet 16.
