Connecticut rolls over Idaho 105-37 in first round matchup

STORRS, Conn. – Six Huskies scored in double figures as top-seeded Connecticut rolled over No. 16 seed Idaho, 105-37, in the first round of the NCAA DI women’s basketball tournament.

Head coach Geno Auriemma said the game went according to their game plan, as the Huskies worked both inside and outside on the offensive end, and used their length and quickness to great advantage against the overmatched Vandals.

Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis led the Huskies with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting. UConn hit 60.9 percent of their shots, compared to 26.4 percent for Idaho.

Kiah Stokes contributed a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, as UConn outrebounded Idaho 45-23, and also forced 21 turnovers.

Idaho was led by Stacey Barr with 14 points, including four three-pointers in the final three and a half minutes.

UConn improves to 31-4 while Idaho falls to 17-17. UConn will play eighth-seeded Vanderbilt on Monday night at 9 pm.
