UConn adds two walk-ons to 2013-14 roster

Connecticut announced two additions to the roster for the 2013-14 season.  Freshman guard Tierney Lawlor and sophomore guard Briana Pulido are both walk-on candidates who have now officially made the team.  Lawlor will wear No. 20 while Pulido will wear No. 11.

High School: Ansonia High School
Height: 5-7
Position: Guard

High School: Averaged 12.2 points and 8.75 rebounds per game in her final two seasons at Ansonia … Named All NVL Brass and captained the squad in both her junior and senior years… Selected to the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Team… Tabbed as a New Haven Tap-Off Club Scholar Athlete… Received Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete honors… Also lettered in softball and soccer. Personal: Born on September 14, 1995 … Parents Eileen and John Lawlor are both UConn alums from the class of 1988 … Father played on the football team during his time as a Husky … Anticipates majoring in engineering.

Briana Pulido
Class: Sophomore
Hometown: Miami, Florida
High School: Gulliver Preparatory
Height: 5-7½
Position: Guard

High School: Attended Gulliver Preparatory … received All-Dade Honorable Mention and most Points/Best Offensive Player of the Year in 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons … Led the team in steals, points, and assists in junior campaign … District champion in her senior year… Was named Female Athlete of the Year in the 2011-2012 season… Achieved such academic notoriety as National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, Rho Kappa Honor Society, Science Honor Society, English National Honor Society, and First Honors… Lettered in track and field, cross-country, and volleyball… Also a member of the UConn Track and Field Team. Personal: Born June 4, 1994 … Daughter of Terry and Gus Pulido… A psychology major.
