PHOENIX – Even if Phoenix falters and does not win the 2014 WNBA championship, Mercury head coach Sandy Brondello will finish a banner season, not only as a record-breaking coach but also as the best dressed. The recipient of the Coach of the Year award not only guided the franchise to a league-best 29-5 regular season record in her first year in Phoenix, she consistently turned heads among fans and media with her eye-catching, yet tasteful, attire.

While the former WNBA player and Australian national team member remains in great shape and could probably wear just about anything well, her courtside attire raised the bar this year for coach fashion in the league. Her secret weapon: Shyra Ely-Gash, @ShyShy43. As the owner of Styles by Ms. Ely, the former Indiana Fever player and ex-Tennessee star is making a name for herself as the go-to fashion consultant for high-profile coaches and players. Her clients include Louisiana State head coach Nikki Caldwell, who many consider the best-dressed coach in the women’s college game, and Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White.

All season long, Brondello has enjoyed wearing the outfits masterfully put together by Ely-Gash who says they are having fun. Sunday night, Brondello’s outfit for game one of the WNBA Finals did not disappoint. Ely-Gash provided the low-down on the ensemble:

  • Halogen Colorblock Mixed Media Sheath Dress (Burgundy and Black)
  • MICHAEL Michael Kors ‘Flex’ Pointy Toe Pump (White and Black)
  • Spring Street ‘Frieda’ Necklace (Black and White)

*all items purchased from Nordstrom

Fashion fiends look forward to seeing what Brondello will wear from the remainder of the best-of-five finals series.
