ACC and BIG TEN tie in Big Ten/ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge

From the ACC:

For the second consecutive year and third time in Big Ten/ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge history, the two storied conferences played to a tie in the 2015 Challenge. The ACC and the Big Ten each won seven Challenge games over Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.

After being down 5-2 following the first day of competition, the ACC rallied to win five games to tie the Challenge, 7-7, and retain the trophy.

The ACC moves to 6-0-3 all-time in the Challenge with a 62-46 record against the Big Ten in Challenge games. The two other ties in Challenge history occurred in 2014 (7-7) and 2011 (6-6).

The Big Ten/ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge matches teams from each conference in head-to-head competition, traditionally on the first Wednesday and Thursday after Thanksgiving following the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Men’s Basketball Challenge.

The ACC and Big Ten conference offices determine the schedule each season, and matchups may repeat from year-to-year in efforts to coordinate similar opponents and reach competitive equity. In addition, the official title of the Challenge will rotate each year. The 2015 event was referred to as the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Women’s Basketball Challenge and will continue to mirror the official title of the two conferences’ Challenge agreement for men’s basketball.
