WBCA High School Players of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016

The WBCA has announced its High School Players of the Week presented by MaxPreps for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 7.

In its inaugural year the WBCA High School Player of the Week is presented to a deserving student-athlete who demonstrated outstanding play throughout the week. Head coaches submit nominations each week and the WBCA selects the individual based on stats that were submitted.

The winners are:

Region 1
Angelique Rodriguez, a junior from Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut, helped the Trailblazers go 2-1 on the week, improving to 15-3 overall. The point guard finished the week averaging 23.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Rodriguez posted a season-high 27 points in an 86-39 win against Goodwin Tech on Feb. 2.

Region 2
Kyla Irwin, a senior from State College High School (State College, Pennsylvania), propelled the Little Lions to a perfect 3-0 record on the week, moving to 17-3 overall. During the week Irwin averaged 36.3 points, 11.0 rebounds 3.7 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.0 blocks. In a 67-59 win against Mifflin County High School on Feb. 2, Irwin recorded her 13th double-double of the season, earning a season-best 43 points, while grabbing 10 boards.

Region 3
Allana Stewart, a 5-foot-7 junior from Mountain Island Charter School in Mt. Holly, North Carolina, averaged 28.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.3 rebounds. Stewart tallied a season-high 32 points in the Raptors’ 49-41 win against Thomas Jefferson Academy on Feb. 3.

Region 4
Taya Andrews, a 5-foot-9 senior from Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger High School (Fort Wayne, Indiana), led the Saints to a 2-1 record for the week, to move to 15-7 on the season. Andrews averaged 26.7 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals in the three games, and connected on 21-of-23 attempts from the charity stripe, including a perfect five-for-five in a 61-38 win against Fort Wayne Canterbury on Feb. 5.

Region 5
Lexie Black
, a sophomore from Valley High School in Caledonia, Missouri, concluded the week averaging 26.3 points, 5.0 steals, 3.3 rebounds and assists. Black snagged a season-best seven steals in a 70-67 win against Valle Catholic on Feb. 1.

Region 6
Jordan Lewis, a 5-foot-7 senior from Ramah High School (Ramah, New Mexico), extended the Mustangs’ win streak to four following two wins last week, improving to 16-5 on the season. In the two wins Lewis averaged 40.0 points. She amassed a season-high eight assists in an 82-18 win against Northwest High School on Feb. 2.

Region 7
Daisia Fox, a sophomore from Santa Rita High School in Tucson, Arizona, closed out the week averaging 22.5 points. Fox posted a season-high 29 points against Cholla High School on Feb. 3 in a 44-41 victory.

Region 8
Antania’ Watkins, a 5-foot-7 sophomore from Arroyo Valley High School in San Bernardino, California, has helped guide the Hawks to a 24-2 record after earning three wins last week. Watkins concluded the week averaging 27.3 points, 13.0 steals, 12.7 assists and 7.7 rebounds. In a 105-9 win against Indian Springs on Feb. 2, Watkins recorded her fourth quadruple-double, finishing with 23 points, 18 assists, 13 steals and 11 rebounds.

Region 9
Erin Boley, a 6-foot-2 senior from Elizabethtown High School (Elizabethtown, Kentucky), guided the Panthers to three straight wins. Boley concluded the week averaging 25.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.3 assists. In each of the last six games Boley has registered a double-double.
