AP Poll – Feb. 22, 2016: Tennessee drops out of poll for first time in 31 years, Colorado State enters at No. 25

Colorado State (24-1, 14-0) entered the poll at No. 25 for the first time since 2002. The Rams are on a program-record 21 game win streak and school-record 10 game road win streak.  The 21-game win streak ranks as the second longest active win streak in the country behind only Connecticut. Over those 21 games, CSU has an average margin of victory of 18.6 points per game and has won 11 of those games by at least 20 points. They are undefeated in Mountain West play.

“It is great recognition for our program and for the hard work this team has put in, but it isn’t going to change our approach to everything we do,” said head coach Ryun Williams said. “From the beginning, our goals have always been ones we can control; top 25 voting is something we cannot control. We know that we are going to continue to get every opponent’s best effort – maybe even more so now – and we are going to have to continue to play well to reach our ultimate goal. It is fun for our players to see that people across the country are starting to take notice, and it’s also a great thing for our fans who have been tremendous all year. We’re thankful for their support, and it’s something they can enjoy too, but we have a lot of work to do and our goals are still in front of us.”

Colorado travels to New Mexico on Wednesday to take on the Lobos at 7 p.m. MT. The game will be streamed on TheMW.com.
