Indiana Fever sign free agents Jeanette Pohlen and Erica Wheeler to training camp contracts

From the Fever:

The Indiana Fever have announced the signing of free agents Jeanette Pohlen and Erica Wheeler to training camp contracts.

Pohlen, a 6-0 guard who has played with Indiana since her rookie season on 2011, appeared in 26 games last season, shooting 40 percent from 3-point range and averaging 2.4 points per contest. She saw action in six of 11 playoff games as the Fever advanced to a decisive Game 5 of the WNBA Finals. The former Stanford product has encountered injuries since being drafted by the Fever. As a rookie, she led the WNBA in 3-point shooting percentage (.468), and helped Indiana to the WNBA title in 2012 despite succumbing to a torn left ACL in the Finals vs. Minnesota. She played briefly in 2013 and was preparing for a healthy 2014 when she tore her left Achillles’ tendon prior to training camp. After her return in 2015, she will report to Indiana’s training camp for her fifth pro season in 2016.

Wheeler is a 5-7 point guard who graduated from Rutgers in 2013 and made her WNBA debut last summer. Signed by Atlanta in May, Wheeler played 17 games with the Dream before closing the season with New York. She appeared in three regular season games and three playoff games with the Liberty. She currently is playing in Brazil, prior to WNBA training camp in April.
