Los Angeles Sparks re-sign Serbian guard Ana Dabovic

The Los Angeles Sparks have re-signed Serbian guard Ana Dabovic, executive vice president and general manager Penny Toler announced today.  Per team policy, contract details were not disclosed.

“We are excited to have Ana back after her great rookie season last year,” said Toler.  “She is an emerging, talented player in this league and we look forward to watching her grow.”

Dabovic returns to Los Angeles after a breakout rookie season in the WNBA last year.  Appearing in 25 games (eight starts) with the Sparks, she ranked second in the rookie class in scoring (8.8 ppg) to go with 1.9 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game.  She was third among first-year players in three-point field goal percentage (33.3),  fourth in free throw percentage (80.8) and fifth in field goal percentage (44.6).

“We look forward to having Ana ?back in Los Angeles,” said head coach Brian Agler.  “From the beginning she proved to be a very valuable player and was extremely instrumental in helping us  with our late surge into the WNBA playoffs. She has the ability to create for her teammates as well as for herself and will contribute to our success.”

Named to the 2015 All-WNBA Rookie Team, the 6-foot Serbian guard scored in double figures in eight of the Sparks final nine games of the regular season to help Los Angeles advance to its 15th postseason appearance.
