From USA Basketball:

USA guard Sue Bird injured her right knee during the USA’s Aug. 16 game against Japan. She underwent an MRI on Aug. 17, which showed a knee capsule sprain. She is listed as day-to-day.

“Obviously I felt a huge relief,” said Bird. “The hardest part is waiting and not knowing. So, to finally get the thumbs-up from the doc that everything was okay was incredibly relieving and exciting, and obviously I’m very happy.”

Bird has seen action in every USA game during the Olympics averaging 3.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 5 assists and 19.3 minutes per game.

The USA resumes play Thursday in the semifinals of the Rio Games and will face France. USA Basketball’s women’s senior national team is the only undefeated squad left in the competition at 6-0 after defeating Japan on Wednesday. The semifinals also feature Spain vs. Serbia.
