San Antonio Stars re-sign center Kayla Alexander

The San Antonio Stars re-signed center Kayla Alexander. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not announced.

Alexander averaged 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in 19.5 minutes last season. She is currently overseas playing for Tango Bourges Basket, where she is averaging 9.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in the in the French League and 8.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game in Euroleague play.

“Kayla has shown tremendous growth during her first four years with us, and we are thrilled to know she will remain as a part of our core moving forward,” said Stars General Manager Ruth Riley. “Her work ethic on the court and commitment and compassion for our community make her a perfect fit for our Stars culture.”

The Stars selected Alexander in the first round of the 2013 WNBA Draft (8th overall). In 120 games she averaged 4.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 12.6 minutes.

The 2017 season home opener is scheduled for Friday, May 19 against the Phoenix Mercury.
