Road to Dallas: Sweet 16 matchups set, play begins Friday

The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament are over and Sweet 16 matchups are set. All of the top seeds advanced to the Sweet 16: Connecticut (Bridgeport Region), Baylor (Oklahoma City Region), Notre Dame (Lexington Region) and South Carolina (Stockton Region).

Teams will now travel to regional sites to begin a quest to reach the Final Four in Dallas at the end of next week. The first two rounds included upsets of a No. 2 seed and a No. 4 seed.

In the Stockton Region, No. 12 Quinnipiac opened with a 68-65 victory over No. 5 Marquette. In the second round, the Bobcats took down No. 4 Miami 85-78 in Coral Gables, handing the Hurricanes a heartbreaking loss on their own floor. Quinnipiac opens Sweet 16 play vs. No. 1 South Carolina on Saturday in Stockton.

In the Bridgeport Region, No. 10 seed Oregon edged No. 7 Temple 71-70 in the first round in Durham, NC. The Ducks followed up with a win over No. 2 seed Duke giving the Blue Devils a defeat on their home court. Oregon opens Sweet 16 play against No. 3 Maryland in Bridgeport, CT.
