Maryland and South Carolina to begin two-year, home-and-home series in 2017-18

Maryland and current national champions South Carolina will begin a two-year, home-and-home series during the upcoming 2017-18 season.

Maryland will host South Carolina at the Xfinity Center on Monday, Nov. 13. The Terrapins will make a return trip to South Carolina’s Colonial Life Arena in Columbia in November 2018.

“This is a great series for our team and for our program,” said Maryland head coach Brenda Frese in a release. “We want to play the best and we want to give our fans the opportunity to watch the best basketball in the country. I know Terp Nation will be in full force.”

The 2017 game will mark the second meeting between the teams and first since 1997. Maryland won the first contest, 74-60, in 1997.

While the SEC champion Gamecocks beat Mississippi State in the national title game earlier this month, Maryland finished the season with 32-3 overall record and won both the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles for the third straight year.
