UCLA tops Pac-12 Preseason Media Poll, Preseason All-Pac-12 team announced

Last month, UCLA topped the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Today, the conference announced that the Bruins were also voted No. 1 in a poll of media members.

UCLA received 242 points and 14 first-place votes. Oregon is second place in the poll with 226 points and four first-place votes, while Stanford received three first-place votes and 224 points. Oregon State and California rounded out the top five.

The league also announced the five-player Preseason All-Pac-12 team, also voted on by the media. Cal junior Kristine Anigwe and Bruin senior Jordin Canada are repeat members of the team. They are joined by UCLA senior Monique Billings. Oregon sophomore Sabrina Ionescu, the USBWA National Freshman of the Year last year, and her teammate, sophomore forward Ruthy Hebard.

Last season UCLA advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the second-straight year, the first time in the history of the program it has made consecutive appearances in the round of 16.

Oregon made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 12 years last year. Led by Ionescu and Hebard, the Ducks advanced to the program’s first-ever NCAA Elite Eight. Oregon returns all five starters.

Stanford, the defending Pac-12 Tournament Champion, earned its 13th all-time NCAA Women’s Final Four appearance last season under Hall of Fame head coach Tara VanDerveer.
