Los Angeles Sparks sign Ana Dabovic and Karlie Samuelson, re-sign Odyssey Sims

The Los Angeles Sparks signed Ana Dabovic and Karlie Samuelson and re-signed Odyssey Sims.

“It will be nice having Ana back on the team,” general Manager and executive vice president of the Sparks Penny Toler said. “Her experience, hard work, and knowledge of the team will be a plus for our 2018 team.”

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dabovic is a 6-foot-0 guard and was part of the 2016 Los Angeles Sparks Championship team as well as a member of Serbia 2016 Olympic team where she won the bronze medal. She has a career average 6.0 PPG in her two years with the Sparks and is currently playing in Turkey for Fenerbahce, averaging 11.1 PPG, 2.4 APG and 1.9 SPG.

Samuelson attended the Sparks training camp in 2017 but due to injury was unable to continue. The 6- foot-0 guard played for the Stanford Cardinals before joining the WNBA and played the offseason in Italy for Vigarano averaging 14.8 PPG and 4.9 RPG.

“I’m happy to announce that we have resigned Odyssey. She came in last season and was a tremendous asset to our team both offensively and defensive,” Toler said. “Her continued development and commitment to the team is going to be huge for our future success.”

Sims was the second overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft, selected by the Tulsa Shock (now the Dallas Wings).  She averaged 15.9 points per game and 3.6 assists per contest during the 2017 Sparks playoffs and averages 14.0 ppg, 3.8 apg for her career.
