Notre Dame reclaimed the top spot in the Sport Tours International/Hoopfeed Poll this week. The Fighting Irish had a great week taking down previous No. 1 Louisville on Thursday night and Wake Forest on Sunday.

After their defeat, Louisville recovered to defeat Georgia Tech on Sunday but still fell to No. 4 in the poll. UConn had a slight edge in the votes over Baylor to come in at No.2. Oregon rounded out the top five.

South Carolina enjoyed success over the week with victories over Florida and at LSU. The Gamecocks jumped ahead six places to end up at No. 15.

Rutgers (13-3) entered the poll for the first time crashing in at No. 20 after getting votes for several weeks. The Scarlet Knights are undefeated at 5-0 in Big Ten play and earned two road games last week against Illinois and Nebraska.

Several previously highly ranked teams experienced upsets that caused them to drop in the rankings or completely out of the poll.

Iowa lost to Purdue on Thursday and fell two places to No. 19.

Tennessee experienced the biggest drop after experiencing three straight losses this month. It is the first time in 33 years that the Lady Vols have a succession of three defeats on their record. Their last two losses came at the hands of Kentucky and Georgia. As a result, the Lady Vols fell eight places to No. 21.

Minnesota, a team that started the season on a 12-0 streak, are now 0-4 in Big Ten play. The Gophers lost to Michigan State and Iowa last week and ended up at No. 23 in the poll, a drop of five places.

California completely dropped out after an unsuccessful trip to the Pac-12’s Arizona schools. The unranked Arizona Wildcats dominated the Bears Friday and Arizona State beat Cal on Sunday.

Florida State also fell out of the poll. Unranked ACC foe Clemson beat the Seminoles on their own floor Sunday, 57-45. Clemson also took down Miami in Coral Gables earlier in the week. As a result, Clemson received the NCAA’s Team of the Week honor and votes in the poll as well.

  • Other teams that received votes: Utah, California, Drake, Georgia, Missouri, Florida State, Butler, Miami, Central Michigan, Texas A&M, Clemson
  • Dropped out: California, Florida State
  • Poll Newcomer: Rutgers at No. 20
