The Minnesota Lynx announced that the franchise will retire the jersey of former star guard Lindsay Whalen this summer. Her No. 13 jersey will be the first retired by the franchise.

The ceremony to hang the jersey is set for June 8 when the Lynx hosts the Los Angeles Sparks at the Target Center.

“We couldn’t have selected a better person and teammate in Lindsay Whalen as the first Lynx player to have their jersey hung in the rafters of Target Center,” Minnesota Lynx and Timberwolves Owner Glen Taylor said in a release. “Lindsay has provided us so many unforgettable moments, including four championships and numerous highlight-reel plays. We congratulate Lindsay and her family on this momentous occasion, and I look forward to celebrating with her and our fans on June 8.”

Whalen is currently a head coach in the college game at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She is a four-time WNBA champion with a long list of accomplishments with the Lynx. She played in the WNBA for 15 years, nine of them in Minnesota. She retired after last season.
