In a Tuesday morning trade, the Dallas Wings acquired rookie forward/center Kristine Anigwe from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for sixth year forward/center Theresa Plaisance. The league’s trade deadline is today at 8 p.m. ET.

“Theresa has been a part of our team for six seasons and has worked tirelessly to transform herself from a third-round draft pick into a WNBA starter,” Wings president and CEO Greg Bibb said in a statement. “We greatly appreciate the contributions she has made to our organization both on and off the court and we wish her well moving forward.”

Plaisance has played in every Wings game this season and started in 12. She averages 6.0 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per contest. She is among four starting centers in the league to have a positive assist-to-turnover.

“We are excited about the acquisition of Theresa Plaisance,” Sun head coach and general manager Curt Miller said. “Theresa is a talented, versatile offensive player and is considered one of the best stretch post players in the league. She is someone who we have targeted for a few seasons and we are excited to have her with us. Theresa gives us an experienced, young veteran presence who has a tremendous reputation across the league as a fantastic teammate and unifier in the locker room.”

Anigwe, the ninth overall pick in the 2019 draft by the Sun out of California, has appeared in 17 games this season, averaging 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game in 7.1 minutes played.

“This deal brings us a young and athletic post player who will fit well into coach Agler’s system,” Dallas Wings President & CEO Greg Bibb stated. “We believe Kristine is an elite rebounder with tremendous potential on both sides of the ball and we are excited for her to continue to develop her game as a member of the Wings organization. In addition, this transaction will deliver flexibility moving forward as we continue to shape our roster for the future.”

The Wings have a pair of away contests this week, first at Seattle on August 8 and then at Phoenix on August 10. The Sun will be in action next on Friday, August 9 when they travel to Minnesota.
