Weekly Pac-12 Awards (11/18/19): Arizona’s Aari McDonald and Oregon State’s Taylor Jones earn honors

Arizona junior guard Aari McDonald made program history this past week with an outstanding offensive performance on the road at Texas on Sunday afternoon. The sharpshooter broke the Wildcats’ single-game scoring record in an 83-58 victory over the Longhorns. She shot 14-18 (77.7%) from the field and was perfect from the free throw line making all 14 attempts. She became the first Wildcat to score 40 points in a game. Her 44 points were the most any opposing player has scored against Texas at the Frank Erwin Center.

McDonald started the week by scoring 34 points in a an 82-50 win over Chicago State on Tuesday. She is also ESPNw’s Player of the Week.

Oregon’s State forward Taylor Jones earned Freshman of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. Over three games in the preseason WNIT tournament, she averaged 14.7 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per contest. She had a career-high 24 points against DePaul on Nov. 14 and added 14 points and seven rebounds in the title game victory against Missouri State on Sunday.
