Draft coverage roundup, hello New York?

As the WNBA draft wrapped up yesterday, teams began updating their websites with news of their picks. Around the country newspapers did the same to announce the selection of hometown players, those from area universities and picks of local WNBA teams.

Strangely enough, in the largest city in the country, New York City, there were no original stories about the picks of the New York Liberty. The New York Post and the New York Daily News talked about Christ the King’s Tina Charles being the No. 1 pick and Epiphanny Prince getting selected by Chicago but there was no print (except for a wire story) in New York papers on the new members of the hometown WNBA team — forward Kalana Greene of the University of Connecticut, guard Ashley Houts of the University of Georgia and Cory Montgomery of the University of Nebraska.
