In the tradition of honoring champions in major sports, President Barack Obama welcomed the Minnesota Lynx to the White House on Monday. The President lauded the team for winning the 2015 WNBA title. As he began his remarks, he could hear the young son of Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, Oliver, crying in the audience.

“Oliver is upset that mom’s up here and he’s not,” quipped Obama. Tuning in to the infant’s cries, he gestured to have someone bring Oliver to the stage to join his mother.

The Lynx (13-2), the second-place team in the league at the moment, will hit the court again on Wednesday when they host the New York Liberty (10-5), the league’s third-place team, at 7 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on NBATV and MSG+.
