Los Angeles Sparks signed center Sandrine Gruda for the remainder of the season

From the Sparks:

The Los Angeles Sparks have signed 6-foot-4 center Sandrine Gruda for the remainder of the season, as announced by Executive Vice President/General Manager Penny Toler.

“We are looking forward to Sandrine rejoining the team.  Her experience in the league will add a boost to our team for the reminder of the season, headed into the WNBA playoffs, said Toler.”

Gruda has played in a total of 126, averaging 7.9 points, 4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in her WNBA career.  Most recently, Gruda played overseas with Fenerbahce of the Turkish Women’s Basketball League during the 2016-2017 offseason, where she averaged 12.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 18 games played with Fenerbahce this past season.

Gruda was originally acquired by the Sparks in 2014 from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for the 11th pick in 2014 WNBA first round draft and 2015 second round draft pick.  She played in 34 games with Los Angeles before spending the 2015 season prepping for the 2016 Olympics with the French National Team.  After competing in the 2016 Olympics, Gruda returned to the Los Angeles Sparks and was a part of the Los Angeles Sparks 2016 WNBA Championship run.

Sandrine is a member of the French national team, competing in the 2016 Summer Olympics (4th) and is a Silver medalist in the 2012 Summer Olympics.  Her past overseas experience includes UMMC Ekaterinburg in Russia from 2008-2016.  She earned two Euroleague titles (2013,2016) and eight Russian League titles (2009-2016) with UMMC Ekaterinburg. In 2009, she was named FIBA’s Europe Player of the Year Award.
