Tulsa to unveil mascot, Mayor Bartlett to announce Tulsa Shock Week

On the day before their only preseason game, the Tulsa Shock will unveil their mascot. A fan photo session will follow the 11:00 a.m. CT event at Hunter Park on Saturday.

Tulsa’s mayor Dewey Bartlett is set to hold a 10 a.m. news conference on Monday, May 10 at City Hall to announce Tulsa Shock Week with the theme “Paint the Town Yellow” celebrating the team’s uniform color. Celebration activities will be announced at the press conference.

Shock president Steve Swetoha, head coach Nolan Richardson, players and the mascot will attend and be available for a meet and greet immediately after the news press conference.

Less than 700 tickets remain for the Shock’s inaugural season opener against the Minnesota Lynx on May 15 at 7 p.m. at the BOK Center.

“We have had a great start with our season ticket push over the last several months and are extremely pleased with the pace at which tickets are selling for our inaugural home opener,” said Tulsa Shock President Steve Swetoha in a release. “Opening night is a historic event for Tulsa as it’s the first professional women’s basketball game to be played in this city and we to commemorate that by providing the best experience and entertainment possible for our fans.”

The team will play 17 home games at the BOK Center this year. Tickets are only being sold for the lower-bowl of the arena for opening night and the remainder of the season.
