A Look at the ACC semifinal matchups

2011 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament
March 3-6 (Greensboro, N.C.)
Tournament Bracket

#5 Georgia Tech vs. #1 Duke
Jasmine Thomas injured her knee against Wake Forest, she played 24 minutes against Wake Forest. Thomas will have to be on the floor for the Blue Devils if they are going to be able handle Georgia Tech’s press. Krystal Thomas is going to have her hands full with Sasha Goodlett who is coming off an 18 point 9 rebound performance against Maryland. Of course Alex Montgomery is the key to anything Georgia Tech does on both ends of the floor, look for her and freshman Tyaunna Marshall to set the pace and tempo early.

#6 North Carolina vs. #2 Miami
Miami loves to get out and go in transition, but after yesterday’s battle with North Carolina State will they have enough left in the tank to play at the pace? North Carolina will need to get Shay Chegog, Waltiea Rolle and Jessica Breland good looks in the paint to take advantage of Miami lack of depth at those positions. The backcourt battle between DeGraffenreid/Lucas and Williams/Johnson is going to be the game within the game.
