Atlanta’s Sancho Lyttle to miss six games to compete for Spain in EuroBasket

Atlanta Dream forward Sancho Lyttle will miss six games to  compete for Spain in EuroBasket Women 2011. She will not be competing in tonight’s game against Minnesota and the remaining five games in June. The member of the Spanish national team returns to action with the Dream on July 9 against Chicago. She will be temporarily suspended for the duration of her absence. 

EuroBasket Women 2011 is the European women’s championship. It is also a qualifying tournament for the 2012 Olympics in London.  Lyttle is a native of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines but obtained Spanish citizenship in 2010. 

She competes for Halcon Avenida in Spain during the WNBA offseason.

A 6-4 forward, Lyttle is currently the Dream’s second leading scorer and rebounder.  She is averaging 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game.
