WNBA Finals viewership up

According to figures released by ESPN, the WNBA Championships generated a four percent viewership increase over the 2010 championship series. The Minnesota Lynx swept the Atlanta Dream 3-0 in the best-of-five series last week.

The first game of the series was broadcast on ESPN and the remaining two on ESPN2. The games collectively averaged 515,000 viewers, an increase over the average audience of 495,000 viewers across ABC and ESPN2 in 2010.

In game three, viewership for this year was up 10 percent compared to last year’s game three telecast (600,000 vs. 545,000 viewers). Last year the Seattle Storm won the series sweeping the Dream 3-0.
