Brittney Griner headlines preseason All-America team

Baylor star center Brittney Griner is a unanimous pick to the Associated Press 2011-12 women’s basketball preseason All-America team. The 6-8 center was selected along with four other players to the squad and is the only returning member of the postseason All-America team.

“Brittney has put on 20 more pounds and it will help her over the course of the season,” said Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey in a statement. “The international experience representing the USA in Europe will help her game. She’s more mature and more polished.”

Baylor is No. 1 in both the AP and USAToday/ESPN preseason polls.
