Dishin & Swishin January 5, 2012 Podcast: Chicago’s Pokey Chatman and Seattle’s Brian Agler on the Sky-Storm trade

[display_podcast]

As one of my Twitter friends posted this week, anytime you can talk with excitement about the WNBA in January it is a good thing! Well, things are sure happening as 2012 begins. Tulsa hired a new head coach Tuesday, longtime Indiana Fever assistant coach Gary Kloppenburg. The Los Angeles Sparks followed soon after and announced the hiring of Atlanta Dream assistant Carol Ross as their new coach.

The big news of the week, of course, was the blockbuster trade announced on Monday between the Chicago Sky and the Seattle Storm, with Swin Cash and Le’Coe Willingham going to Chicago, and the second pick in the 2012 draft going to Seattle. I have already given you my thoughts as to what the trade means to both teams. Players and fans have been discussing it on Twitter and message boards.

On today’s podcast you can hear from the two people that actually made the deal happen. Pokey Chatman is in charge of player personnel for the Chicago Sky as well as head coach. Brian Agler fills the same roles with the Seattle Storm. I had the opportunity to talk with each of them individually and they shared the process and thoughts behind the deal, what they expect and hope for, and what the deal means to each franchise. They also have messages for the fans of their respective teams as well.

So today we are talking about the Swin Cash blockbuster trade. I hope you enjoy the podcast. And it is exciting to talk WNBA in January!
